Paul Frederick Blum
July 26, 1944 – December 3, 2024
Paul was born to Aloysius and Hilda (Hoffmann) Blum, on a farm northwest of Panama, IA on July 26, 1944. He attended and graduated from St. Mary Grade School and High School. He entered the US Army in January 1963, and served until December 1965, attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. He was stationed in Germany for 2 1/2 years.
In November 1966, Paul moved to Omaha, NE, and in July 1967, married Marietta Schwery. Together, they had three children: Michael, Michelle and Melinda. Early in their marriage, they lived in the Holy Name area, and then moved to their home of 50 years in 1974, where they are members of Mary Our Queen Parish. Paul was involved in the Men’s Club, Athletic Committee, That Man is You, and Soccer Club.
After a work-related injury in 1970, Paul attended Nebraska College of Business, earning an associate’s degree in accounting. Upon graduation, he worked for 15 years at Ryan-Berigan Livestock at the Stockyards, five years at First Data Corporation, and 16 years at Bank of the West, retiring in 2011. In retirement, Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, walking, reading, and attending grandchildren’s activities.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marrietta; children: Michael (Jennifer), Michelle (Rob) Madison and Melinda (Jerad) Berry; grandchildren: Charlie, Julia, Austin and Ethan; and brother, Richard (Lois). He was preceded in death by parents, Aloysius and Hilda; brothers: Frederick (Marlene), Edward (Jolene), and Gerald; sisters, Esther (Francis) Wageman and Helen; other family and friends.
Memorials will be directed by the Family.
VIGIL SERVICE: Sunday, December 8, 5:00PM, Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 South 118th Street, Omaha, 68144 with VISITATION from 3:00-5:00PM.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Monday, December 9, 2024, 10:45AM, Mary Our Queen Catholic Church.
INTERMENT: Resurrection Cemetery, Omaha.
