Chen, Paul Po-Jung 11/11/1936 – 11/24/2014 79 years Bellevue, NE Paul Po-Jung Chen, 79, died on 11/24/14 in Bellevue, Nebraska. Paul was born Chen Po-Jung 11/11/1936 in JiaTou, Taiwan. He was the eldest of eight children and was raised on a farm. Having excelled as a student, Paul attended Taiwan University – the most prestigious university on the island. After teaching English for a number of years, Paul (with the help and business acumen of his wife Susie) started a publishing company that published the materials he wrote to teach English to Mandarin speakers. His materials became so popular that he was known even at the immigration checkpoint at the airport (as many immigration officials used his materials to learn English.) He was well known for his high standards by his students, and also for his humor by other rotary club members in the business community. In 1980, Paul moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts for graduate studies at Harvard University. The rest of the family soon followed. His family survives Paul: wife Susie, children – Pauline, Janet, Anne, Dianna, Peter, and Amy, eight grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held at 9am, Saturday, 12/6/14 at Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel, 2202 Hancock Street, Bellevue, Nebraska 68005. Relatives and friends are welcome at the memorial service and the light reception immediately afterwards. Burial will be held in private with the immediate family.
