Peggy Mae (Barta) Siciliano

Peggy Mae (Barta) Siciliano

January 29, 1936 – March 13, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy Mae, our beautiful, loving, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Siciliano; brother-in-law, Tom Siciliano; parents, James and Margaret Rose Barta; and favorite nephew, Jack Reuting. Peggy is survived by her four daughters: Cheryl Johnson, Debbie Chapman (Jim),  Jamie Siciliano-Pepin, and Jill Henry; grandchildren: Joseph Johnson,  Sara Johnson (Garrett Flowers), Alexandra Hemmann (Carson), Wesley Pepin (Jordan Baxter), and Mason Pepin (Claire Larsen); step-granddaughter,  Angela Lewman (John); great-grandchildren, Collins and Archer Hemmann; step-great-grandchildren: Abigail, Joshua and Adalyn Lewman; and special niece, Judy Reuting.

Peggy was born, raised and lived her whole life in Omaha, Nebraska.  Peggy attended Notre Dame Academy for several years and graduated from Central High School in 1954.  She married her handsome husband, Joseph Siciliano, in 1956.  They were together for 45 years (until Joseph peacefully passed away in his sleep).

Peggy worked at Russel Stover Candies off and on throughout her life, starting at the store in downtown Omaha when she was 17 years old.  In her younger years Peggy taught dance class, was active in her church, was a Girl Scout leader,  and was president of the AMO Club in Omaha, helping to raise funding for many local causes.

Peggy adored and loved her family.   Family gatherings were a priority and Peggy always made everyone feel welcome.

Peggy had an art for “getting to know” complete strangers in minutes.  If she visited with you and asked questions, she was genuinely interested in you, and often formed lasting relationships.

Peggy was fondly known as “The Card Lady”. She would hand write in her beautiful script, 100s of notes and cards every year to family or friends for birthdays, holidays, or just to say hi.

Peggy will be missed deeply.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, March 25th at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 654 S. 86th St.  Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
