Penelope “Penny” Galdeano

April 12, 1941 – February 28, 2023

Penny was born in Eureka, South Dakota, to parents, Herman and Alma (Joachim) Bertsch. In childhood, she lived in Ashley, North Dakota; Fairmont, North Dakota; Alberta, Minnesota; and Tenny, Minnesota. She attended high school in Campbell, Minnesota, and College at Grand Forks University of North Dakota, where she graduated in 1964.

Penny met her future husband, Ralph, in September of 1961. They were married on August 4, 1962. As a military wife, she moved from base to base every couple of years. She had to be both mom and dad while Ralph served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam from 1970-1971.

Penny loved to play the piano for and for her own pleasure. Upon Ralph’s retirement, they finally settled in Omaha. Through the years, she met and made many amazing friends. She and Ralph loved to go dancing with their dancing group.

Penny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great friend to many. She will be missed.

Preceded in death by husband, Ralph. Survived by her 4 sons: Michael, Mark (Paula), Marshall, Matthew (Robin); 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: Monday, March 20th, 5pm, with 7pm VIGIL at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, March 21st, 10am, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1248 S. 10th St. Interment: Omaha National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospital Burn Center in Lincoln, NE.
