Phillip Barager
April 23, 1949 – August 13, 2021
Phillip Barager passed away on August 13, 2021, at Bergan Mercy Hospital. Phil was born on April 23, 1949, in Norfolk, Virginia. As the son of a Navy Captain, he lived all over the United States and then went to Missouri Valley College. There, Phil studied history and kept good company with his fraternity brothers at Alpha Sigma Phi. Later, he laid down roots in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he got his master’s degree in higher education from Indiana University and eventually moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1986. His primary career was as a health insurance broker. The people in Phil’s life knew he loved art and animals. He had a special fondness for golden retrievers. Phil loved a good conversation. He was always kind to strangers. Phil was an eternal optimist.
Phil was preceded in death by loving parents, William Barager, Jr. and Lydia Barager. He is survived by son, William Justin Barager; daughter, Kelli Barager; sister, Eddie Andrews; brother-in-law, Byron Andrews; niece, Lydia Patterson; daughter-in-law, Heather Barager; and soon to arrive granddaughter, Brooklyn Barager.

I miss my buddy, phil
Thank you Frank and Ruth Peterrs for your condolences. I was pretty well shocked and sad when Phil passed. Can talk about it now. He was my last lifeline to our family.
