Phyllis E. Becker

BECKER, Phyllis E., Aug 20, 1925 – Mar 2, 2012. Phyllis passed away in Omaha, NE after a battle with lung cancer. Phyllis was born in Martin, SD to Barbara and George McConnell. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Melton and Harold, and her parents. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Otto “Rusty” Becker; daughters, Barbara (Gary) Livermont and Gloria Becker-Rial (Terry Rial); grandsons: Jeff and Greg Livermont and Brett, Clint and Cody Pettit; step-grandchildren, Jessica Scheuerman and Brandon Rial; former son-in-law, Jerry Pettit. Phyllis also has five great-grandchildren. Phyllis and Rusty ranched east of Martin, SD until 1953, when they came to Ak-Sar-Ben Racetrack with their first racehorse. This began over thirty years of racing the Nebraska and Kentucky circuits. They moved to Omaha permanently in 1991 to enjoy their youngest grandchildren. Phyllis loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. She made friends easily and will be missed by her family, neighbors and friends. VISITATION with the family will begin at 10am on Saturday, March 24, with SERVICES at 11am at the West Center Chapel. Following the service there will be a luncheon in the Community Room at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Bennett County Senior Citizen Center in Martin, SD, or to the American Cancer Society.
