Phyllis Gilham was born in Chicago Illinois on May22, 1962 she was the youngest of two daughters born to Gwendolyn Gilham who preceded her in death. Phyllis accepted Christ as her lord and savior at a very young age and attended St Anselm Catholic Church with her mother and older sister, Phyllis was later baptized at Salem Baptist Church of Omaha on January 27, 2008. Phyllis attended Enrico Fermi Elementary School and graduated from Hyde Park Career Academy (Class of 1980) in Chicago, Illinois.

Phyllis moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1989 in search of better opportunities for herself and her son. After settling in Omaha Phyllis attended the Omaha College of Health Careers and received certification as a Medical Assistant, following the completion of this accomplishment, Phyllis became employed at DaVita Kidney Care Center as a Dialysis technician, she later became employed with the Federal Department of Veterans affairs as a Lead Medical Support Assistant.

While in Omaha Phyllis developed many great relationships with church family at Salem, co-workers and neighbors. Phyllis had a heart of gold, a smile that would light up a room and a great sense of humor. Phyllis has left a positive lasting impression on all that she came in contact with. Phyllis loved to travel and often returned to her roots in Chicago to visit friends and family, and partake in the flavors of her youth; Maxwell Street Polish better known as Jew town polish, Harold’s chicken, Docks fish, White Castle Burgers and more recently Mariano’s Carmel/Cheese mixed popcorn.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her fond memories: one sister Sharon Gilham of Chicago IL, long time dear friend and sister Georgina White, of Omaha NE, surrogate mother Bessie Lee Ray, two sons Andrew Lee Ray Jr and Khiry LeSean Gilham both of Omaha NE, two grandsons, Andrew Lee Ray III and Kingston Ameer Brown, also of Omaha NE, one dear cousin Mrs. Lee Shinault of Gary, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
