With heavy hearts we announce the death of Phyllis Jean Thode of Omaha Nebraska, she passed on July 8, 2023, at the age of 88.

She was born on May 5, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Mildred “Jean” and Bruce Wallace Petersen. She is survived by her 5 children: Jeanne Conklin (James), John Thode, Harry Joseph Thode (Karen), Ruth Hamberger (Perry Hawn) and Sara Thode; brothers: Bruce, Hank, Don and Doug Petersen; grandchildren: Jennifer Hatten, Daniel Conklin, Lucas Thode, Christopher and Thomas Hamberger; great-grandchildren: Connor Hatten, Reagan, Tenley, Silas, and Scarlet Hamberger.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jacob Thode; parents, Mildred and Bruce Petersen; siblings, George Petersen and Janet Wahl.

Phyllis graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1953 and attended the University of Nebraska, Omaha for two years where she was a member of Sigma Kappa, Beta Omega Chapter. She married her love of her life Harry in July 1955 and became the beloved mother of 5 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Over the span of her career with Northwestern Bell/US West, Phyllis started as a 411 operator and retired as a Network Engineer Specialist.  She served as a Union shop steward for the Communications Workers of America while at US West.  She was active in her church and a friend to many.
