Lucille Theresa (Deichl) Poepping Nov 10, 1925 – Jun 2, 2016 Lucille Lu was born in St. Xavier, Montana, to Joseph and Katherine (Kautzman) Deichl. She spent her early years with her siblings, Joe and Kay, on a ranch where she learned her love of all creatures great and small, but horses and cats were her favorites. Lu worked for Northwest Orient Airlines for over a decade which afforded her the opportunity to travel the world. She married Ira J. Poepping in 1961, and together they had two children, Scott and Michele. After living in Omaha for nearly 25 years, Lu returned to Montana, and then eventually moved to Seattle, Washington where she resided until her death at the age of 90. Despite leaving Nebraska, she was always a follower of her beloved Cornhusker football team. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, and brother. She is survived by Scott and his wife Lora who reside in Seattle, their two daughters Jordan and Merrill, and by her daughter, Michele (Faulkner) who lives in Omaha. Lu was a favorite of those who cared for her, and she was blessed with a dry, self-deprecating sense of humor which she maintained throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials to Best Friends Animal Society (www.bestfriends.org).
