R. “Clarke” Mullen

MULLEN, R. “Clarke” Aug 30, 1932 – Sep 27, 2012 Organist for 18 years at St. Paul United Methodist Church; chaired the Piano Department at UNO for 30 years; graduated from University of Oklahoma with double major and Bachelor’s Degrees in piano and organ; received Master’s Degree in piano from Julliard in 1956; studied piano for a year in Paris as a Fulbright Scholar. A very generous and caring person, Clarke grew up in Tonkawa, OK, where he was the Salutatorian of his high school’s Class of 1950 and where, at the age of 13, he became the organist for the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Foster “Jackie”and Paul. He is survived by partner of 48 years, Harry Stayer; brother, Charles H. Mullen of Norman, OK; long-time professional and personal friend, Dr. John Bohrer. VISITATION Monday, Oct. 1, 5pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Tuesday, Oct. 2, 11am, West Center Chapel. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to your favorite charity.
