Ram Khatri
June 29, 1988 – October 1, 2023
Ram Khatri was born on June 29, 1988, to Arjun and Jhanka Kumari Khatri in Kushadevi, Nepal. He moved to Pokhara, Nepal, where he was cared for by Dr. Deependra Gautam and his wife, Buddhi Maya Gautam.
Ram attended New Moon Light for grades 2-5, the Global Collegiate School for grades 5-10, followed by college at Janapriya Multiple Campus, where he graduated in 2008. Ram then worked for World Vision, where he was instrumental in helping the Nepali people after the Earthquake of 2015.
Ram met and married his wife, Tshering Tamang, on October 19, 2014. Tshering and her brother, Phurba, had traveled to Nepal for the wedding, after which Ram and Tshering settled in Omaha, NE. Ram arrived in Omaha in 2015 and they welcomed their son, James Ezra Khatri, in 2021. Ram battled lung cancer for two years and continued to serve the refugee community with his job at the International Council For Refugees and Immigrants. Ram continued to work whenever he had strength.
Ram was a very dedicated Christian. He was a servant to all people and had a heart to help those in need. Ram was a dedicated husband and father, and a very hard worker. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Ram and Tshering have attended Coram Deo Church since 2021. Coram Deo welcomed and blessed them In many ways through Ram’s sickness, and the birth of their son, James.
He is survived by his wife, Tshering; son, James; father, Arjun Khatri; brother, Raji K.C, Nawaraj Khatri; and sisters, Kamala Basnet and Kabita K.C. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jhanka Khatri.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE for Ram will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Coram Deo Church, 8787 Pacific Street. VISITATION will begin at 8:30 a.m. INTERMENT will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 2300 S. 78th St. Omaha, NE.
