Ray A. Marchello

MARCHELLO, Ray A., Jan 28, 1917 – Jan 7, 2010, Omaha, NE. Preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Sara Camero Marchello; brother, John; sisters, Lolly Distefano and Lucy Carlintini. Survived by daughters: Linda Marchello and son-in-law, Mike Carroll, Leslie Peterson and son-in-law, Mike; grandsons: Dave Fowler and wife, Joanne Lee, Drew and Reed Peterson; granddaughter, Sara Bon Fowler, sister, Madeline Menard; beloved nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Ray lived a long and happy life and embodied the words of Will Rogers, “I never met a man I didn’t like.” A WW II veteran of the Army Air Corps, he flew in C-47 Transports in the European Theatre. He owned and operated Auto Glass Service. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, Husker football, playing cards, Ak-Sar-Ben, and a good joke. In his later years, he told stories of being in the Armed Services, his travels with Sara, and his early life in Omaha in the 1930’s. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, VFW, American Italian Heritage Society, and the American Legion. He died peacefully surrounded by those who loved him. La Dolce Vita. VIGIL SERVICE Monday, 7pm, West Center Chapel. SERVICES Tuesday, 9:30am, West Center Chapel to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church for MASS at 10am. Interment, Calvary Cemetery with military rites by Millard American Legion Post 374 & VFW Post 8334. The family will receive friends Monday, 5pm-7pm at the West Center Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Siena/Francis House.
