Raymond D. Drobny

DROBNY-Raymond D. “Ray” 70 of Omaha, NE died May 19, 2008. He is survived by his spouse of 45 years Bonnie, 3 sons, Guy and MaryBeth of Dallas, TX, Douglas of Omaha, and Jeffrey and Jennifer of Omaha, and 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Jack, and Isabella. Born in Norfolk, NE, grew up in Verdigre, NE, served in the United States Navy. Began his career in the Financial services industry in 1967 with Central States Health & Life of Omaha. Worked as an agent, Branch Mgt. Regional manager before joining Pioneer Western Corp. of Clearwater, FL as Regional Marketing Vice President. In 1974 became a Financial Services Vice-President with Pioneer Group of Boston and served both firms in a wholesaling and marketing position. Also developed a private client practice during this period. Joined Paine Webber in the Phoenix, AZ office as Vice-President and worked in the Member firm community for 7 years leaving Wachovia Securities in 2005 as a Senior Vice-President to re-establish a private practice with his son Douglas as his partner. Strong advocate of long term planning over his career, served as past President of the Iowa-Nebraska chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners. Long time member of Oak Hills Country Club. His hobbies involved both golf and trapshooting. Life member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association, Life member Nebraska State Trapshooters Association. Competed in several states in the Midwest. Won four State of Nebraska Championship titles, as well as several out of state awards, retired from competitive shooting in 1996. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife on golf vacations. Preceded in death by parents, Leonard “Red” Drobny and mother Clara, His mother was a long time educator in the Verdigre School system. Memorials to: St. John Vianney Building Fund and the Nebraska Humane Society. FUNERAL MASS Thursday 10am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church of Millard. WAKE SERVICE Wednesday 7pm at St. John Vianney. Interment Evergreen Cemetery with full Military Honors by Benson VFW Post No. 2503. VISITATION at St. John Vianney Wed 6-8 PM.
