Raymond J. Gloeb

GLOEB, Raymond J. Aug 7, 1931 – Jan 24, 2013 Raymond Gloeb, a loving and loyal husband, father and friend, and retired Omaha business leader, has died in Omaha at the age of 81. He was the president of Darden-Gloeb Inc. for 46 years, and a member and past president of The Omaha Executives Association. In his spare time, Raymond was an accomplished carpenter, artist, gardener, and photographer. He loved reading, music and cooking. He was an avid fisherman and Husker football fan. Raymond will be missed for his humor, advice and love of life. Born in Omaha to Joseph and Lucille Gloeb, Raymond was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Loras College and Creighton University. He proudly served in the United States Army Infantry Reserves for nine years. Raymond was a loving husband, a nurturing father, a source of knowledge and a very, very proud grandfather. He was a faithful, founding member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, where he and his wife, Helen, designed and crafted the stained glass cross, handcrafted altar, and many other pieces of art in the church. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen Gloeb; three sons, Christopher (Sher), Geoffrey (Diane), Matthew (Kristin); daughter Andrea (Paul) Whalen; grandchildren, Ashley, Josh (Laura), Eliott, Addison, Garrett, Gavin, and Christine and Janelle Whalen; four step great-grandchildren; sisters, Marge (Ray) Wieczorek, Joan Chonis; brother Leonard (Dorothy); numerous nieces, nephews and friends; all of whom he cherished. VISITATION Sunday, January 27, 2pm to 4pm at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, resuming at 7pm at Church with VIGIL SERVICE at 7:30pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Monday, January 28 at 10am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church followed by lunch and interment at Calvary Cemetery, Omaha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Siena/Francis House, St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, or Mount Michael.
