Ray Krupa was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in “Sheelytown”, a Polish and Czech neighborhood in South Omaha. He attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1950. He served about 2 years in the US Army during the Korean War, and once he returned, he met his future bride, Connie Martin, on a blind date. They were married on June 16, 1956, and had two children, Kathy, and Bob. Ray worked for Union Pacific Railroad, reworking the steam piping for the “Big Boy” steam locomotives. However, he spent most of his life working for Western Electric, first as a machinist in the wire sheathing department, and later coordinating the supply clerks throughout the Omaha Works plant. He was a family man and was very involved in his kids’ lives and activities. He loved fishing, golfing, and Nebraska football. He dearly loved his three grandchildren – Tony, Emilie, and Mitch. A patient and kind soul, Ray was the best husband, father, and grandfather a family could want.
