Raymond Joseph Stratman

STRATMAN, Raymond Joseph “Ray,” Jan 26, 1929 – Oct 13, 2012. Ray passed away peacefully at the Josie Harper Hospice House. A life-long resident of Omaha, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Ray was dedicated to the mission of the Siena/Francis House where he served as a volunteer, board member and president. He was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers and lectors at St. Pius X Parish. After 42 years, he retired as a manager with the U.S. Postal Service. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hattie Stratman; brothers, Chuck and Larry; infant granddaughter, Emily. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geri (Frost), and by his children: Shari (Tom) Samek, Steve (Rhonda) Stratman, Sue (John) Reitan, Scott (Therese) Stratman, Sandy (Bill) Ludwig; 12 grandchildren: Jeff and John Samek; Carson and Ted Stratman; Joe, Steven and Rachel Reitan; Jaclyn, Brad and Ben Stratman; and Lisa and Becca Ludwig. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. C. A. Stratman and his wife, Jan; sisters-in-law, Sr. Lucille Marie Frost, O.P., Marge Stratman, Rita Bartels (Jack) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In the Father’s Kingdom and in our hearts, Ray will live forever. VISITATION Wednesday, Oct 17, 2pm to 5pm at the West Center Chapel and after 6:30pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6905 Blondo, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7:30pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Thursday, Oct 18, 10:30a.m., St. Pius X Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials are suggested to Siena/Francis House, 1702 Nicholas Street, P.O. Box 217, Omaha, NE 68101.
