Refugio “Ralph” Galdeano, MSgt USAF (Ret.)
November 19, 1937 – December 2, 2019
He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Parents were Francisco and Leonarda (Navarro) Galdeano. He is survived by wife, Penny; four sons: Michael, Mark (Paula), Marshall, and Matthew (Robbin); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; twin brother, Jesse; and sister, Sr. Elsa.
Served more than 20 years in the Air Force. He was stationed in Grand Forks where he and Penny met in September of 1961. They were married in August of 1962. From there on every few years they moved base to base. Guam to Whiteman AFB, Missouri to Offutt. From there to Vietnam, next to England, then on to Finland Radar Site, Minnesota, next was Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then retirement. They then came back to Omaha where Ralph and boys went to UNO. He started working at the Post Office, where he retired from in 2001. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Silver Bay, Minnesota. He also belonged to American Legion Post 1 and to Qui Vive Dance. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends Friday, December 6th from 5pm to 7pm, at the West Center Chapel followed by a VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, December 7th, 10am, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (1248 S 10th St.). INTERMENT: December 9th, 1pm, Omaha National Cemetery with military honors by Offutt Air Force. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home.
