I am so sorry to hear about this. Thoughts and prayers for family and friends. Rick was a good friend and we worked together for a few years. Classy man and a good heart.

This is heartbreaking news. Rick was a classmate of mine since our grade school days at Christ the King, then at Westside High School. He was a true inspiration to those needing a helping hand. God Bless you Rick!

Prayers and condolences to family and friends. Our parents and grandparents were “Union Pacific” families and I always enjoyed knowing the Pettigrew family. I was fortunate to see Rick several years ago and made it known that his (late) mother would be extremely proud of him and the reckoning and turnaround that he made in his own life. God’s continued blessings..

To Rick’s daughters:: I knew the Pettigrew family as a teenager and kept in touch with your grandmother after Steve passed away until she passed in 2008. Thoughts and prayers are with you both. My rosary today will be for Rick and the whole Pettigrew Family.
    Blessings and prayers,

My prayers go out to the Pettigrew family. I was given the opportunity to meet Rick almost 10 years ago at the Stephen Center HERO program. He was a huge blessing to my life as he coached me along in my recovery. Today, i am blessed to work in the Pettigrew Emergency shelter. I will always smile when thinking of him. You will be missed, my friend.

We feel so much sorrow to hear about our friend Rick. Shannon and I were thinking of him on the morning we later heard of him passing. Rick was a lifelong friend from the age of 15. Decades passed until we were able to reconnect. We we’re happy to be able to spend some time with him before his passing. He has left his mark with his work and compassion for other people in the end. He left me with some great memories from growing up and spending some time with him in the last year’s.
    God Bless

I am saddened to hear about Rick’s passing and send my condolences to his family. Rick was one of my best friends. We both grew up in the same neighborhood and hung out a lot with each other. I have many fond memories of our times together. You and Rick will be in my prayers.

Rick was a person that once you met him, you would always remember him.
He had a complex personality that amused, touched and sometimes even irritated people.
Rick was smart, giving, and was always “the Rickster”. I have very found memories and will only remember the best of times which were many. Bless you Rick and may you find peace in the life thereafter. Joycie
