Richard A. Pouchert

Richard A. Pouchert
February 11, 1934 – October 22, 2021

Dad passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.  Survived by his wife of 63 years, Yvonne; sons, Grant Pouchert (Christina) and Jimmy Pouchert (Marta); daughter, Gail Grosskurth (Al); grandchildren: Rebecca Prieur (Jake), Margret and Peter Grosskurth, Jack Pouchert; great-grandchildren, Kaia and Selah Prieur.

Richard Pouchert moved his family to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1971.  He loved this city. In the Navy, he flew jets off an aircraft carrier for seven years.  He ran the Trane Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning franchise in Omaha until he retired at 63.  Richard was an avid birder and photographer and gardener.  He adored his wife and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never able to spend enough time with them.  Richard enjoyed going to the Henry Doorly Zoo, Lauritzen Botanical Gardens and Fontenelle Forest so much that in lieu of flowers, the family requests supporting these three amazing institutions instead.

Dick and I became friends about 10 years ago because of our mutual love for birds and bird photography. Through the years I always looked forward to our conversations on what birds we were seeing and what cameras we were using. A highlight was visiting his backyard to photograph the birds that were there. I will miss his joy that he had when he shared a photo of a particularly exciting bird.
