Richard Allen Sweet

Richard Allen Sweet

September 1, 1958 – October 22, 2020

Richard Allen Sweet at the young age of 62 became one of Gods angels on October 22, 2020 in Missouri valley, Iowa with his wife by his side.

Richard was born on September 1, 1958 to Alice and Charlie Dye in Omaha Nebraska.  Growing up he had four siblings David, Richard, Jon (Tommy), and Donna.  He graduated from Bryan High School.  He played football and baseball along with bowling leagues.  Rich worked at Millard Lumber where he worked for 19 years driving a forklift hauling lumber day in and day out.  He was also happily married to his wife of 29 years Julie when he was called flight into heaven.

Preceded in death by Alice and Charlie Dye.

Richard is survived by his beautiful wife Julie.  Children David, April, Jared, Justin, Erin, and Beau.  Grandchildren Ryan, Alice, Blake, Urijiah, Marcela, and Neveah.

Richard always loved a good football game, but what he loved more then that was to watch his kids play football through the years.  Even coaching a few of our little league teams.  He was a man with a massive heart and even a bigger personality.  There was never a dull moment when he was around he always had a smile on his face.  He will forever be remembered for his big grin and big hugs.  We love you forever and always Dad, Brother, Uncle and friend.

Quote: We may have had our ups and downs but in the end there was only love.  (The sweet kids)

My sincere condolences to the Sweet family. Rich was so fun to be coached by. He loved football and it shined through the way he treated us all. He was the biggest reason to why we were so successful as a team. His love for football and personality shined through us all, and it made it easy to play hard for him. I am thinking of you all during this difficult time, and may God bring you peace as you grieve his loss. I’ll never forget Coach Sweet!
