Richard Eugene “Dick” Blunck

BLUNCK, Richard Eugene “Dick” Oct 3, 1939 – Nov 25, 2014 Dick Blunck went home to our Lord on Nov 25, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, Vernon and Marjorie; brother, John; nephews, Mark Blunck and infant Robert Stolte. Survived by his “bride” of 51 years, Dolores “Dee” Blunck; sons, David Blunck (Mónika) and Darin Blunck (Annette); daughter, Lisa Blunck; grandchildren: Racheal Blunck, András and Kristóf Blunck; great-grandchildren, Wesley Alexander and Alice Jane; sister, Virginia Stolte; aunt, Nancy George (Alan); nephews, Michael Stolte and Jeff Blunck; niece, Debra Thoma. Dick was born on October 3, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa. After graduation from high school, he joined the Navy, serving aboard the destroyer USS Hank and cruising the Mediterranean. After attending the University of Iowa, Dick began his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Davenport, Iowa. After moves to Des Moines and Omaha, he retired from the phone company after a long career that he began as a telephone installer in 1962 and finished as a respected manager in the finance division at U.S. West in 1990. Dick continued to work and prepared tax returns and did bookkeeping at Paul Gerber Auto until finally retiring. Dick was Scout Leader of Boy Scout Troop 429 and loved serving his Lord and Savior as a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. He delighted in planning camping vacations with his family and, in retirement, he especially enjoyed vacationing at favorite places in Sedona, Arizona and Hilton Head Island. He took particular pleasure in visits with the grandkids. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 30th from 4pm to 6pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Monday, December 1st at 10:30am at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 11615 “I” St. Interment Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Mound, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to King of Kings Missions, Open Door Mission, or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
