December 18, 1957 – October 18, 2024
Ricky Lee Hoelting passed away on October 18, 2024 at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Joan Hoelting, and sister, Debra. Rick is survived by his wife, Marie (Karmazin); sons, Nigel (Ashley) and Riley (Jennifer); grandchildren: Brayden, Sadie, Skylar, and Mason; brothers, Gene (Lindy) and Randy (Trish); and sister, Tina (Gene) Kile.
Rick was born on December 18, 1957 to Lyle and Joan Hoelting in Hastings, Nebraska. Rick grew up in Lawrence, Nebraska where he attended Lawrence High School and met his wife, Marie. He attended Milford Community College and then moved to Omaha. Rick and Marie were married on August 8, 1981 and had two sons, Nigel and Riley.
Rick worked for Mutual of Omaha for 31 years before starting a career as an agriculture adjuster at NAU Country. He loved his job, driving all over the state with his dog, Toby, talking to farmers all day. Rick ran cattle on the side. It was his passion. Yearly round-up was always a favorite event for him. He was a member of the Washington County Cattlemen’s Association and the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
Rick would always say hello and spark a conversation with any stranger. He loved to talk and meet new people. Rick was a loving husband and an amazing father and grandfather. He never missed events and was so proud of his family. Rick led the Pitch game at every family gathering. He loved teaching the next generation how to play. As Rick would say, “That’s just what we do.”

Sending my deepest sympathies on Rick’s passing! He was one of our most favorite crop adjusters! Our farmers that worked with him always enjoyed his company and adjusting style! He always came into the office with the most up beat attitude and didn’t seem to let much bother him! He will be greatly missed in the insurance industry! I will continue to keep you all in my prayers as his passing breaks my heart!! We all lost a good one!!
Praying for Marie, Nigel, and Riley and the family during these difficult days and days ahead. Praying God will hold each of you closely to His heart as you mourn the loss of a father, husband, grandpa, and friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. My wife and I live near the south end of Rick’s street (Mayfair Drive). I also worked at Mutual of Omaha when Rick was there. I always enjoyed visiting with Rick at Mutual, whenever I would bump into him in the neighborhood and at one of the school events in which both our grandkids participated.
You have my deepest sympathy!

Saddened to hear of Rick’s passing. I worked with Ricky at Mutual of Omaha early in my career. We shared interest in agriculture outside of work. He demonstrated quality family values and an exceptional work ethic. On occasion he would remind me that’s why it’s spelled JOB and not FUN and he would say that with a smile. Sympathy and prayers.🙏✝️

Many prayers for Rick, someone who has shared so much life with you will always be a part of you. Blessings to all of you.
Rick was my crop insurance adjustor and one the best I’ve ever had. He was a great man and we always had great conversation. He loved his family, dog, and cattle. We would always talk about when he should sell his calves, and I’d always tell him he should never sell them, just feed them out at my custom feedlot, or that feeders were to dang high. He will be missed and not forgotten. Condolences to his family and know his life impacted so many.
