Rita Joan (Lenihan) Hermsen , age 74, passed away on February 14, 2023
Mrs. Hermsen was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 4, 1949. She graduated from St. Albert High
School in Council Bluffs and the University of Nebraska in Omaha.
Rita was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church. She was involved in many charities and community organizations. She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida and spending time with family. Rita is survived by her loving husband, Roger; children: Leah (Scott) Olson, Matthew (Susan) and Ryan; brother, Matthew (Christy) Lenihan of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Joan Lenihan; brother, William; daughter-in-law, Alicia Hermsen.
VISITATION: Tuesday, February 21, 2023, 6:00PM followed by VIGIL: 7:30PM; MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Wednesday, February 22, 10:00AM all at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific St., Omaha, Nebraska. INTERMENT: Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Father Shane Education Endowment (11802 Pacific St. Omaha, NE 68154) or Essential Pregnancy Services (3171 North 93rd Street, Omaha, NE 68134).

Praying for your family, Rita was a special person. I am unable to attend out of town.
We have been blessed to have known RIta for over 50 years. Her beautiful smile, sparking eyes and laugh always brightened the day and brought joy to others. She was the epitome of a good and faithful servant of the Lord — a wonderful witness. She always made people feel welcomed and loved. Our sympathies go to Roger and the family, but we know she is smiling on us.

So sorry for your loss. We went clear through school together. As kids we often celebrated our birthdays together as they were a week apart! Always enjoyed talking with Rita. She always smiled and listened so intently! She will be missed. God bless! RIP
