Rita R. Koehler

October 20, 1930 – February 27, 2024

Rita R. Koehler, born October 20, 1930, in Minden, Nebraska; entered into rest February 27, 2024, Fleming Island, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; married 46 years and widowed 21 years. She is survived by her son, William; daughter, Susan; and son-in-law, Paul Brogan.

She grew up on a farm near Campbell, Nebraska. When she moved to Omaha, she met Bill Koehler. They married in 1957. She worked many years for the National Park Service while she raised the family. She was a kind, gentle, loving mother. She was very involved in the Catholic Church, and spent countless hours volunteering for organizations within the church. She was good natured and never complained. Friends knew her for her cheerful nature, sense of humor and warm smile. She loved walking, gardening and cooking. What meant the most to her was God, family and friends.

Family receives friends: Thursday, March 7, 2024, 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m., followed by Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m., all at West Center Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, March 8, 2024, 10:00 a.m., Christ the King Catholic Church, 654 S. 86th St.  Interment: Resurrection Cemetery.

    I was very sorry to see the death of your fairy special mom Rita joined us for the May and June rosary‘s by the Mary statue at Christ the King for many years. She was always a warm smile and a kind word, and she will be missed more than I can say. Carol Dworak
