Rita Van Oort
November 22, 1931 – October 24, 2018
Preceded in death by parents, William and Tillie Van Steenwyk; brothers, Donald Willard and Ernest Van Steenwyk; sisters, Joyce Vogel and June Van Peursem. Survived by husband, Harris; children: Kevin, Kent (Nicki), and Jane Van Oort; granddaughters, Audrey and Grace; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel, 7805 W. Center Rd. in Omaha. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 3rd at 9:30am at Westwood Community Church, 13056 Atwood Ave. in Omaha. Private Interment: Omaha National Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Westwood Community Church or Nebraska Children’s Home Society.

Hi Gerrit and Carol, I certainly do remember youfolks. Thanks for your expression of sympathy. Rita had cancer for about a year but we are so thankful she did not have pain and I could be her caregiver at home. Hope all is well with both of you..

Our prayers and condolences to Harris and his family. We will miss the yearly winter bridge games with Rita and Harris in Texas. Rita was the only person I ever knew who played bridge with the Oracle of Omaha. Rest in peace dear lady.
