Robert D. “Bob” Osterholm

OSTERHOLM, Robert D. “Bob,” Aug 9, 1923 – Jun 18, 2011. Bob was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and grew up and graduated from high school in Glenwood, Iowa. A man who greatly loved his country and an ardent patriot, he enlisted early and served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. After the war, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Doctorate of Law from the University of Virginia. He went to work for Union Pacific Railroad as an attorney and served as President of the Tidy House Corporation. Never satisfied with working for someone else, Bob found his true calling as an entrepreneur and founded many successful business endeavors in his lifetime. Bob was known by his extended family and friends as always willing to lend a hand in time of need and never knew a stranger for very long. The last of his generation in a large family, he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar C. and Sarah E. Osterholm; brothers: Lisle, Stewart, Orrin, Richard and Leo; sisters: Helen Riekina, Evelyn Dalton and Dorothy Niederberger. Survived by wife, Sue Osterholm; son, John Osterholm; daughter-in-law, Stacey Osterholm; grandchildren: William, Benjamin and Alexander Osterholm; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Monday, 6pm-8pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Tuesday, 11am, West Center Chapel. GRAVESIDE SERVICE Tuesday, 2:30pm, Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, IA, with military rites by American Legion Post #141.
