Robert G. Campney

Robert G. Campney

February 5, 1949-March 29, 2025

Bob was born on February 5, 1949, to Hubert and Dorothy Campney in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  He attended Ruthven Community Schools and graduated in May of 1967.  Bob went to Iowa Lakes Community College and then the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, graduating with an accounting degree in May of 1971.  He was married to Rose Mary Stillman of Emmetsburg on June 12, 1971.

Bob began his work career as an accountant for Ryun, Givens and Company in Spencer, Iowa before moving to Omaha to work for Foxley Cattle Company, who moved him to Denver, CO for a short time and then back to Omaha.  He then started at Pacesetter Corporation in 1977 where he worked until he retired as Vice President and Treasurer in 2008.  After retirement from Pacesetter, Bob knew he had more to give so he worked for Marianna Industries until 2012.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Rose of almost 54 years; daughter, Riley (Frank) Lorenz of West Dundee, IL and son, Nick (Lenae) Campney of Lincoln NE.  He has seven grandchildren: Lizzie, Frankie, and Hubert Lorenz; Breccan, Sam, and Colette Campney; and Hayley Broderson.  Bob is also survived by three siblings: Jim (Mary Ann) Campney of West Des Moines, Iowa, Judy (Joe) Etten of Huntley, Illinois, and Bill Campney of Branson, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Dorothy Campney; as well as a nephew, Steve Campney, and great-niece, Ava Grace Campney.

Bob’s passion in life was truly his devotion to God and his family.  He coached Nick in every sport during his youth, never missed one of Riley’s events and for the last 18 years has attended every event he could make of his grandkids.  He loved traveling, reading, and golfing but mostly being a kid playing with his grandkids.

He served the West Omaha Serra Club where he was a member for 40 years and was President for two different terms.  He then became a District Governor and Treasurer for Serra USA before serving the past 3 years as the Treasurer for Serra International.  Bob loved his work promoting vocations to the priesthood and religious life for the Catholic Church.  His volunteer work has taken Rose and he all over the United States as well as to Canada, Mexico, Rome (four times) and to Thailand.

Bob suffered a stroke on March 18, 2025, and passed away on Saturday March 29, 2025, surrounded by family.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends all around the world.

I’m a first cousin of Rosemary, I amand have fond memories of Bob and Rosemary over many years. I grew up in Denver most of my life and was 9 years younger butI remember when they moved Denver, My mother Mary and father Bob were so excited having their Niece and her husband living so close. I remember Bob’s fondness for cars and I believe it was a little MG sports car that he had when they were living in Denver. I believe it sparked a fondness for Convertible sports cars in me too! I’m So glad that I come back to Emmitsburg for a family reunion in May 2024 and got to visit and dinner Rosemary and Bob, and the rest of the Stillman family. Not even thinking though that that would be the last time that I would get to see him. My deepest condolences to the entire family, Sandra Medina-Dundee Florida

Bob was a special man. One of the first neighbors to greet us when we moved into the El dorado neighborhood 35 years ago. His faith and commitment to the church were an inspiration. I will miss seeing him at mass and his cheerful, giving disposition. Rest in Peace Bob.

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. Although I never met him, I feel I knew him at least a little as we had many phone conversations and e-mails as he helped to get our St Serra Club reinstated with the IRS. He always took time to talk to me and was patient and kind. We even shared a few CPA stories. I am the Treasurer of the Serra Club of the Owatonna MN Area and that is how I got to know Bob. My deepest sympathies. Tom Eichten, Owatonna MN

Serra will be poorer without Bob at the helm as Treasurer. I got to know Bob during the “Tax Exempt reboot” which he worked on tirelessly to help clubs recover their tax exempt status. Bob and I had long phone conversations on all manner of topics. We met in person for the first time at last year’s Convention in New Orleans, but I felt I had known him for years. He was a true gentleman who loved his God, family and Serra.

    Rest in Peace Bob
