Robert G. Lance

Robert (Bob) Gene Lance age, 71 of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Robert (Bob) was born on April 19, 1944 in Guyman, Oklahoma to Daniel Monroe and Ola (Harvel) Lance. He joined one brother John David and two sisters Wilma and Dorothy. Bob grew up on the farm and traveled with dad on the harvest crew. He joined the United States Army at the age of seventeen. This would be his life for twenty eight years. He was a true soldier and was a proud Green Beret. He loved jumping from planes and repelling for many years. He served in Viet Nam, 2 tours in Germany, and one in Saudi Arabia and traveled all over the world. He was part of the 82nd Airborne and in the 18th Airborne Corps. He married his wife Carol on October 18, 1986 and became the best Dad that Lori and Debra could ever have had. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and now belongs to the United Methodist Church. Bob became a close family member to everyone of his new family and enjoys the closeness on Holidays. He loves to dance and taught his daughters and granddaughter at an early age. He had taken his granddaughters to the Black Hills and wanted to make the trip with his three grandsons. He was able to do this with them with Debra’s help and enjoyed the time of closeness with them. When his health would allow him, he had a dream and with so many people working on it, the monument was built in the park. His dream was to go to the Viet Nam Wall, and it was the most wonderful thing to go on the TLC Honor Flight. It was so special to be able to walk the wall and touch their names. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters. Bob is survived by his wife: Carol Lance of Missouri Valley, Iowa, daughters: Debra Freeman, Lori Kannedy and husband Ben both of Missouri Valley, Iowa, step daughters: Janet and Missy, grandchildren: Brittany, Kayla, Aaron, Colin, and Trevore Dustin, Julie Delong and husband James, Ryan and Roger, many other children who call him grandpa, many special nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
