Robert G. Lueder

LUEDER, Robert G. Nov 14, 1922 – Nov 22, 2013 Bob Lueder of Omaha passed away on November 22, 2013 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Marion Lueder and his daughter Elizabeth Karnes. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; son, Gregg (Cindy) of St. Louis; daughters, Nan Tiedeman (John), Carrie May (Ed); son in law, David Karnes, all of Omaha. Grandchildren include Korey Karnes Huyler, Kalen Karnes Strickland, Kara Karnes, Laurel Karnes, John Tiedeman III, Julie Tiedeman Berninger, Mary, Kirsten, Lizzie, and Sarah Lueder, Ben, Jeff and Gregg May. Great-grandchildren are Elizabeth and Grace Huyler. Bob was born in Omaha on November 14, 1922. After graduating from Benson High School he began studying architectural engineering at Iowa State University. His college studies were interrupted by World War II where he served as an officer in the Army. Bob was seriously wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and later received a Purple Heart, Silver Star and the Presidential Unit Citation. After the war he resumed his college education and met Mary Shelledy. Shortly after graduating from Iowa State, Bob and Mary were married and moved to Omaha were he began a long and distinguished career with Lueder Construction Company. Over the years Bob was active in many professional and civic organizations. Some of these were Optimist Club, the Knights of Aksarben, the Methodist Hospital Board, the Omaha Community Playhouse and he served as Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Kansas City. Bob was a 33rd Degree Mason and active in the Scottish Rite. While achieving professional success and receiving numerous awards over the years, Bob’s greatest joy was his wife, family and the love they shared. The Lueder family would like to thank the compassionate people of Encompass, VNA Hospice and the Rose Blumkin Home. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Omaha Community Playhouse, Optimist Club of Omaha or the charity of your choice. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11am on Monday November 25th at Countryside Community Church, 8787 Pacific Street.
