Robert J. “Bob” Carmichael II
June 29, 1949 – March 15, 2025
Bob was born in Omaha NE on June 29, 1949, to Robert and Julia Carmichael. The third of four children. He attended Holy Cross grade school. He always credited his eighth-grade teacher Sister Mary Miriam for preparing him for Creighton Prep. He graduated from Creighton Prep in 1967 where he was president of his senior class. He earned his BA in English in 1971 at Creighton University. He was greatly influenced by his Catholic education and very proud to be educated by the Jesuits. His motto was AMDG “for the greater glory of God”
A natural people person he owned and operated Carmichael Business Systems, Inc. for 35 years. He could talk to anyone and learn their life story in minutes. He worked hard at his business. He was a get things done guy, always saying “well begun is half done”
He was a great Father to his daughter Carey always willing to drive her and her friends to school, take them to the movie, or on a trip. Bob was an avid reader enjoying mysteries and historical fiction. He loved to watch old movies and was always quoting lines from his favorites. He had a love /hate relationship with golf, depending on the day. Bob liked to travel and was proud that he had visited 25 countries. He was generous and kind. If you were out with a group, you could always count on him to pick up the check.
Bob was a man of great faith. While he was working, he attended daily mass and did an hour of prayer every morning. If he told you he would pray for you he would write your name down on his list and pray for you every day.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert J. and Julia Carmichael, brother, Richard C. Carmichael.
Survived by wife, Suzanne, daughter, Carey Coolidge (Christopher), grandchildren, Kathleen, Henry, and Ella, brother, William G (Tookie), sister, Sharon Wade (Tom), sister-in-law, Margaret Carmichael.
Bob loved his wife, Suzanne and his daughter Carey and son-in-law Chris completely. His grandchildren Kathleen, Henry and Ella were his pride and joy. He could always be counted on for a game or a fun excursion He was so proud of all of them.
His big smile and laugh will be missed.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, March 28th, 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield, Nebraska, with visitation at 9:30am.
Interment: Calvary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

If I’m not mistaken, Suzanne, I caught your bouquet after your wedding! DIdn’t do me any good. I always thought the world of Bob. And loved to hear him speak of his love for you and Carey. Blessings.
Bob called on our department when I worked at UNMC. I looked forward to him stopping by because he was so friendly and talkative. My sympathy to his family.
Best and closest friend thru high school and college. My Best Man at my wedding in 1972. SO many memories….. So much fun. Truly an unforgettable influence in SO many lives. May God bless you and keep you Bob. You have left us all with so many positive memories!
