Robert Jon Hanusek, May 5, 1965 – May 17, 2023, 58 years, 12 days.

Bob was the son of James S. Hanusek, Sr., and Mary Catherine (Greise) Hanusek. He was born at Travis Air Force Base in Vacaville California, the middle child of five siblings.

He attended St. James elementary school and graduated from Roncalli High School in 1983. He went on to complete a 5-year steamfitter apprenticeship program. He served in the Steamfitters Local Union #464 for 30 years. Bob was retiring on May 31, 2023, he had nine workdays left. He recently established Midwest Fabrication Nebraska to do what he loved in retirement.

Bob’s family was his greatest joy in life. He and Keri, who married in 1993, had two boys, Brandon James, and Christopher Michael. He enjoyed coaching the boys in baseball and basketball, teaching them to hunt and fish. He loved his boys so much.

Bob enjoyed watching the Huskers, Bluejays, the Lions and the Braves. He had many friends who he enjoyed grabbing a Blue Moon with. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed each day. His jokes were many and he had an unforgettable laugh, and contagious smile.

Bob was only 8 years old when he lost his father. He carried that grief with him and missed his father every step of his life. We find peace knowing he is in his father’s arms again.

Bob was proceeded in death by his father, James S. Hanusek, Sr.

He is survived by his sons, Brandon Hanusek and Chris Hanusek; mother, Mary Catherine Hanusek; former wife, Keri Hanusek; girlfriend, Michaela Thomsen; sisters, Cathy (Larry) Klein, Julie (Gary) Grothe; brothers, James (Julie) Hanusek, Brian (Kim) Hanusek; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Terribly sorrow to hear of your family’s loss. I was a high school friend of Bob’s. I always hoped to reconnect with him some day. He will be in my prayers.
