Robert J. Rupprecht was born on January 31, 1940, in Howells, Nebraska.  After graduating from high school in 1958, he enrolled in Creighton University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Chi fraternity.  In 1966, he graduated with a degree in pharmacy.

On June 6, 1964, Robert married Sharon Hoven. They were married for more than 53 years and had four children: James, Peggy, Michael, and Cathy.

Prior to becoming a pharmacist, Robert worked for a variety of different companies including the Union Pacific Railroad, Campbell’s Soup, Storz Brewing, and Saint Joseph’s Hospital.  He also worked as a door-to-door salesman and a plumber’s apprentice.  After receiving his degree, Robert began his career at Kohll’s Pharmacy where he worked before moving to Huron, South Dakota.  After a fire destroyed White Drug in Huron, Robert returned to Kohll’s Pharmacy in Omaha and began serving as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  In 1984, Robert accepted a position as an outpatient pharmacist at UNMC, and later became the University’s Pharmacist in Charge, Head of Investigational Drugs and Controlled Substances.  He retired from UNMC in 1998.

A devout Catholic, Robert served the Omaha archdiocese as a religious education teacher at Mary Our Queen parish.  More recently, Robert served as a Eucharistic minister and as a Stephen Minister as a member of Saint Stephen the Martyr parish.

Robert was a talented woodworker who was an avid outdoorsman.  Prior to his death, Robert volunteered in a number of community activities including serving as a Boy Scout leader, a student mentor with the Westside Community Schools, and a member of the Confederate Air Force.

My sincerest condolences to Jim, Cathy, Peggy, Mike, and the rest of the family on their loss. I grew up knowing their father, and fondly remember his laugh, life lessons, and wry sense of humor. He was a good man. My prayers will be with you all during this difficult time.

We met Bob and Sharon when they built their house next to my parents house. What a sweet couple we came to know. Bob was one of the nicest men, I have ever met. My heart broke when I heard of his passing today. May you find peace in your hearts as he is in a better place. God Bless.

Cindy and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. As you know, Bob was a dear friend and pharmacy mentor to me for many years. I enjoyed working with Bob as an intern and then as a pharmacist. It has been quite some time since we last drowned worms together but I still have fond memories of our fishing trip to Sturgeon Bay, WI.
You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about your Father’s passing, Peggy & Cathy. I did not know him very well except for the stories you told. I know he was a wonderful man. He raised a wonderful family for sure. You will have years and years of cherished memories to share with friends and family.
