Robert “Bob” passed away with his wife, Marge, and his children at his bedside.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Mary Fitzsimmons; brothers, John  and Bill, wife, Sharon (Moore); and son, Michael.  Bob is survived by wife, Marge; children: Robert (Michelle), Kathleen Winkelbauer (Russell), and Timothy; grandchildren: Lori Petry-Brown (David), Bradley Winkelbauer (Liz), Erin Brummel (Mack), Miles Fitzsimmons, Nolan Winkelbauer, Michaela  Fitzsimons, Abby Winkelbauer, Nora Fitzsimmons, Natalie, and Lucy Fitzsimmons;  great-grandchildren: Elijah Brummel, Emmeline Brummel, Noah Winkelbauer, Maeve Brummel, and Thalia Brown; brothers-in- law, David (Leslie) and Paul Moore (Jackie); sister-in-law, Marilyn Wilson (Jim); cousins: Linda Thompson, MaryJo O’Hanlan and Kate Souders.

Bob attended South High School, graduating in 1956.  He was very proud of his alma mater, his time there, and the friendships he made.  Bob wrestled while in high school and later went on to coach wrestling at Papillion High School.  He also helped organize  several class reunions.

Bob and his first wife, Sharon, were married in 1958 and were married for 42 years before  Sharon passed away in 2000.  While battling cancer, Bob took care of her throughout her cancer journey.  He always held a special place in his heart for Sharon and we are sure they will have a happy reunion.

Bob worked at Western Electric until he retired in 1988.  He also owned and operated his  own startup business called Telestar Security.  Bob was devoted to his family, his friends  and volunteered on several committees at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  In his spare time, he loved fishing, working in his garden, and attending MANY of his grandchildren’s sporting games and other school activities.

Bob and Marge Reynolds dated for a bit before they were married in 2012.  The lovely couple enjoyed cheering on the Creighton men’s basketball team and rarely missed a game.  They enjoyed listening to music at the Aksarben Park and Jazz on the Green.  He loved Marge dearly.

Bob was known as “Papa” to his ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom he  loved so much.  He loved telling them many of his adventurous stories from his high school days and taught them many life lessons.  Bob will leave a great void in the lives of  his surviving family, but they will always enjoy the many memories of him on holidays, summer vacations, sporting events, graduations, weddings, and birthdays.

In lieu of flower, memorials are to be directed to the family and will be put toward his  beloved South High School and the South Omaha community.
