Robert L. Kocourek
August 1, 1945 – May 24, 2024
Bob was born and raised in Omaha and attended South High School, where he graduated in 1963. After graduation he served in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After he returned from the service, he returned to his job at Pendleton Woolen Mills. He later on became a Water Treatment Plant Operator at MUD for 33 years. He retired early due to medical issues.
Bob and his wife Janet enjoyed many years of traveling stateside and abroad, which included many trips to the Czech Republic. Bob had a great love for polka dancing, making his homemade sauerkraut, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josef and Helen Kocourek
He is survived by his wife, Janet; children: Michael Kocourek, Victoria (Douglas) Stevenson, Susie Kocourek, and Anne Peters (Scott); grandchildren: Darren, Vanessa, and Olivia Stevenson, Caden Peters; sister, Dorothy Bungert; many other loving family members.
Family will receive friends on Friday, May 31st, from 5-7PM at West Center Chapel with a Wake Service at 7PM.
Funeral: Saturday, June 1st, 10:30AM at West Center Chapel.
Interment: Cedardale Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorials are suggested to Make-A-Wish or St. Jude Hospital.
