Bob was born on August 17, 1940, in Blair, Nebraska. He grew up living on a farm, which is where he acquired his love for nature.

Bob attended Sutherland Elementary School. In 1957 he graduated from Blair High School, where he participated in track and many FFA activities.

Bob went on to work as an accountant for Union Pacific R.R. during which time he completed many business courses at UNO. He remained at Union Pacific until his retirement after 38 years.

Bob and Lorraine were married on August 23, 1959, and lived in Omaha, where they raised their two children.

His favorite pastimes were golfing, bowling, hunting with his son, reading, traveling, working with wood and gardening. He especially looked forward to golfing with his senior golf group and Friday outings with his son, grandson, and friends.

During his years after retirement, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren—planting flowers, shooting baskets, playing board games, and watching their sporting events.

Bob and Lorraine recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary during August.
