Robert M. VanDeusen was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 31, 1939, and passed away on November 2, 2021.

Robert graduated from South High School and then served in the U.S. Army.  Returning from the service a short time later, he met Marlys, and they were married in June of 1967.  He was self-employed in floor covering for many years and was a manager at Nebraska Furniture Mart until his retirement at the age of 70.  At that time, he began his golfing adventures including a hole in one at Elmwood Golf Course.  Bob had many hobbies and even more friends.  He enjoyed the fishing trips the “guys” would take, many trips he and Marlys took and being with his family.  The grandkids knew he was their biggest fan.  He loved going or listening to their sporting events.

Bob was an adoring father to Michelle and Robyn, keeping them smiling with his jokes and stories.  He loved celebration with family and friends from the neighborhood circle gatherings, to horseshoes at the cabin to fireworks on the Fourth of July!  He never met a beer he didn’t like.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marlys; their two daughters, Michelle Klein (Keith) and Robyn Jernigan (Michael); six grandchildren of whom he adored:  Josh, Jarrett and Jordyn Klein, Gable, Gibson and Griffey Jernigan; sister, Erin Wilson (Woody); nephews; in-laws; cousins and friends.

Just today I found out about Rob through my brother, Roger. He received noticed from South High and wondered if this was our cousin and it is. I’m so sorry to hear this Marlys, Erin and Woody and other family members. Rob was always a special person in my youth and I remember him fondly. May God bless and comfort you all.
