Robert Sherrill Snoozy
August 2, 1946 – September 30, 2024
Robert Sherrill Snoozy, known affectionately as Bob, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 78. Born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, on August 2, 1946, he was the son of Harold and Nida Snoozy.
A proud son of western South Dakota, Bob spent his early years on the family homestead near Reding, and then onto Belle Fourche, Govert and finally the family farm at Newell, SD where he graduated high school in 1964.
Bob pursued his passion for agriculture and engineering at South Dakota State University, where he earned a master’s degree in Ag Engineering. He was a dedicated professional and a proud member of the U.S. Army, serving valiantly during the Vietnam War flying Huey helicopters for the 358th Aviation Detachment.
On August 30, 1969, Bob married the love of his life, Teresa, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Together, they raised a beautiful family, welcoming their daughter, Kari, in March 1970, and their son, Scott, in July 1973. Bob’s love for his family was evident in all he did, and he took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Following his army service he worked for Lindsay Manufacturing (now Lindsay Corporation) for 35 years in Sales and Marketing. One of his most unique projects was a large project in Saudi Arabia. Bob was also the poem writer at Lindsay as many retirees received a Snoozy poem. He carried those talents even further and wrote song lyrics titled “Delta to the DMZ” and collaborated with a musician to add the music.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Snoozy; daughter, Kari (Cory) Pape of Murdock, Nebraska; son, Scott (Sera) Snoozy of Denton, Nebraska; and his cherished grandchildren: Morgan (Zach) Taylor, Brianna (Ty) Kuenning, Colten Remm (Jasmine Straub), and Caden Remm (Kylie Woodard). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Braylon and Cannon Taylor. He is also survived by brother, Larry Snoozy (Kandee); sister, Laurel Olenyik (John) both of Rapid City, SD; a niece and many nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nida Snoozy. His warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation: Thursday, October 3rd from 5:30-7:30pm at Heafey Funeral Home at West Center Chapel.
Funeral: Friday, October 4th, 11:30am at StoneBridge Christian Church (15801 Butler Ave.)
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Bob’s legacy of love, service, patriotism, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered as a man who truly lived life to the fullest.
