Robert “Todd” Monahan, born December 9, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska, passed away at the age of 62 on December 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Todd is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Monahan; his children, Ronald Newton and Nina Rock (husband Billy); and his cherished grandchildren, Ronald Newton II (wife Sabrina) and Felicia Rieman (husband Trenton). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Leah Kasat, Hadley Rieman, Ellis Rieman, and Hudson Rieman. Todd’s mother, Dian Monahan, survives him as well, along with his siblings: Tami Hauser (husband Tracy), Patrick Monahan (wife Sheila), Kelly O’Connell (husband James), Kimberly McGlade (husband Randall), and Sean Monahan (wife Trisha). He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will remember him fondly. Todd was preceded in death by his father, Robert Monahan, and his sister, Debra Monahan.
Family was at the heart of Todd’s life. From pool parties to cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, he found joy in every moment spent with loved ones. He looked forward to Wednesday poker nights with good buddies and took pride in DOMINATING and bragging about his fantasy football leagues. He was a dedicated Raiders fan and an enthusiastic supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Todd’s compassion for supporting and helping others through tough times was truly infectious. He was also an active member of the Council Bluffs Rifle and Pistol Club.
Todd will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His strength, sense of humor, and passion for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A very special thank you to the Josie Harper Hospice House, family and friends who cared for Todd in the end.
Until We Meet Again, Big Brother
Thank you for all the diapers you must have changed, all the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches you made, and all the times you got stuck babysitting us. Thank you for helping us find Easter eggs and walking us to school, like the time you carried the littlest one home on your shoulders through a blizzard from St. Margaret Mary’s. Thank you for protecting us and looking out for us in so many ways. You snuck us kittens, chased away our bullies, and always helped when asked—whether we needed a ride, ran out of gas, or our cars needed fixing. You always supported our fundraisers and attended our sporting and school events. Thank you for all the care you gave from your big heart to Dad and John Paul.
Thank you for being a great uncle to our kids. Your teasing nature always brought smiles. All the gifts, holidays, sporting events, and advice—none of this will ever be forgotten.
Thank you for being a good friend. Despite your gruffness, your outgoing nature was the key that kept the old neighborhood gang together. When we all got busy with life, your efforts and friendships helped keep all these people here today in our lives, like a beautiful extended family.
Farewell, Big Brother. It’s just like you to go first, to forge the way for us all.
Forever missed, forever loved.
Until we meet again. (Love Tami, Pat, Kelly, Kimberly, and Sean)
