Rodney Berscheid
1959 – 2023
Rodney Berscheid was born in 1959 to Duane and Arlene Berscheid. He was the youngest of four children. He attended St. Francis of Assisi Grade School where he was awarded “Altar Server of the Year,” an award he was proud to share with EVERYONE! He graduated from Gross High School in 1977. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army. Due to a knee injury, he was awarded an Honorable Discharge for his service. Three of his grandchildren continued his legacy of service by enlisting in the military.
One of his favorite memories to share was his time riding bulls in the rodeo, one of which he earned a “First Place” belt buckle. Bricklaying became his career for over 40 years. During these times, he had two daughters, Wendi and Denise. Rodney married Sue in 2000, and he became a bonus dad to Julie and Paul. Blessed with several grandchildren, he loved any amount of time he could spend with them. From baseball and softball games, wrestling and tennis matches, swim meets, soccer games, band and show choir performances, rap concerts, scouts, and dance recitals, Rodney was one proud, busy grandpa!
Some of Rodney’s best family memories were made while boating, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding – in his younger days with dirt bikes and later graduating to Harleys. He loved to travel, especially road trips with “Suzy-Q!” Rodney was a fighter through some of the most difficult times, especially during his last few years. He was a man with a giant heart and willing to help anyone out when needed. He is loved by many, and he will be missed greatly.
He was preceded in death by parents, Duane and Arlene; brothers, Art and Randy; sister, Roxanne. Rodney is survived by wife, Sue; children, Wendi, Denise (Chris), Julie (Bill), and Paul (Emily); many grandchildren.
