After his military service, he worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, where he met his wonderful bride, Bernadette.  They were married on February 22, 1949.  He joined Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Omaha, working there for many years until retirement.

One of his greatest accomplishments was building a home at Beaver Lake with the aid of family and friends.  He enjoyed many family gatherings at this lakeside home.  Roger enjoyed boating and water-skied well into his 70s.

I am much belated in sending my message!…I was saddened to hear about Roger’s passing. I have so many fond memories of summer weekends spending time at your family’s cabin on Beaver lake (paddle boats, boat rides, good food 🙂 ). You all made me feel like part of your family! Years later, when I would be back visiting Omaha from time to time, it would be a nice surprise to see the smiling familiar faces of Bernie, Joan, & Roger at SMM (and great to catch-up as well). Passing along my condolences and prayers to your family during this difficult time.
Love, Hillary Hendricks Schoettler (Dallas, TX)
