Romaine B. Murphy was born on March 22, 1940, in Hartington, Nebraska, to Arthur and Gertrude Burbach. She passed away on June 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after showing resilience in the face of repeated illness.
Romaine is survived by her second husband, Allen Cole; children: John (Annie) Murphy, Ed (Christy) Murphy, Monica (James D. II) Class, and Amy (Robert) Jones; grandchildren: Amanda, Jacob, Elizabeth (Michael), Kaitlyn (Jacob), Sydney, Delaney, James P., and Jack; great-grandchildren: Whitney, Noelle, Cooper, and Bonnie Jo; siblings: Claudia (Dean) Hesselgesser, Chuck (the late Mary) Burbach, and Richard (Russ Stephens) Burbach.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Patrick “Jack” Murphy; daughter, Patrice (Gregory) Kaplinger; two sisters; four brothers; and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses to be offered for the repose of her soul or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
