Ronald E. Henley
April 21, 1943-June 3, 2025
With heavy hearts, we share that Ronald Eugene Henley, affectionately known as “The Old Man,” passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 82.
Ron was born on April 21, 1943, in Omaha to William “Bub” and Elnora Henley. He remained proud of his Nebraska roots and built a life full of dedication, humor, and quiet strength.
He was married to the love of his life, Connie Henley, for 46 years. Together, they raised a close-knit family who always knew they were cherished. He is survived by his children: Renee, Tom, Rhonda, Roxanne and her husband, Josh, Lori Stohler and her husband, Todd, and Will and his fiancée, Delta. Ron was a beloved grandfather to Dorian, Chase, Cole, and Kiley, and a proud great-grandfather to Khloe, RJ, Jaxon, Jace, Zachary, Kinzley, CJ, Londyn, Ava, Nathan, and Timothy.
Ron worked for many years as a Programmer and Systems Analyst at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was known for his innovation, meticulous attention to detail, and pioneering work in computer systems. A graduate of the Dale Carnegie Institute, he was a lifelong learner who thrived on solving problems and creating order in the world around him.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Carl, Linda, and Colleen; and his in-laws, Wilbur and Dorthy Whittington.
He had many loves—his family above all, but also Nebraska Cornhuskers and Denver Broncos football, the Chicago Cubs and White Sox baseball teams (yes, both), Star Trek, animals, flying, and teaching. Ron will be remembered for his great smile and infectious laugh, his gentle nature, his creativity, and his unshakable sense of humor. He was deeply kind, incredibly organized, and relentlessly curious.

Rest In Peace Ron. Think we worked together in the IT field somewhere but do not remember the company. Insurance companies/First Data/OPPD?
I send my condolences on the passing of my friend, Ron, with whom I have been friends since first grade. Thank you for all the years of friendship. Rest in peace and I’ll see you on the other side.
