Ronald “R.J.” Carpenter was born in Spencer, Iowa to Russell and Lucille (Geadakey) Carpenter. He grew up on the family farm and did chores on the farm and raised cows and pigs for 4-H. When he finished with High School, R.J. worked in Spencer, Iowa selling insurance to farms in northwest Iowa. Ronald married Donna Selzer and they had a son, Terry. After their divorce, he moved and began processing loans for Dial Finance. RJ then married Gwen and moved to Omaha, Nebraska with Gwen and her son, Charles.

After working at Thermo King for a number of years, R.J. and Gwen started Ron’s Garage. R.J. and Gwen successfully ran the business for 26 years. After Gwen fell ill, R.J. sold Ron’s garage and stayed home to take care of Gwen. After a long battle with health, Gwen passed away in August of 2003.

R.J. loved his dogs, cars and anything to do with mechanical workings.
