Ronald Jesse Moore

Ronald Jesse Moore
October 14, 1938 ~ September 20, 2021

Age 82 years, of Omaha Nebraska, passed into God’s hands on September 20, 2021.
Ron was born on October 14, 1938, in Jamaica, Iowa, to the parents of Jesse and Beulah Moore.  He was raised there with his two brothers, Roger (predeceased Janice) and Larry (Juli).  As the oldest of the three brothers, he was first with a driver’s license which earned him the right to chauffeur his brothers to the local fishing holes.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  There he met the love of his life, Lois, as she attended Iowa Methodist School of Nursing, and they were married September 12, 1959.
After college he entered the Air Force where he had a distinguished career as an Electronic Warfare Officer, Pilot and Deputy Director of Safety.  The aircraft he served in included the B-52, the air refueling KC-135 and the Airborne Command Post “Looking Glass” EC-135 which served as a nuclear deterrent during the Cold War.  He was an Air Command pilot with over 5,000 hours of flying time, commanded a remote radar station in Alaska, and was a member of the Air Force Inspector General team.  After his career in the Air Force, Ron worked for Berkshire Hathaway as a risk management consultant.
Ron was active in the Lutheran Church throughout his life.  He enjoyed spending time with the men’s Bible Study group at Rejoice! Lutheran Church.  He participated in leadership positions in the Scouting organization and helped both of his sons attain the rank of Eagle Scout.  Eventually two of his grandsons would also attain the rank of Eagle Scout with his encouragement.
After retirement, Ron enjoyed traveling with Lois throughout the United States and Canada in their Roadtrek Van.  They enjoyed the great outdoors, even hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, as well as spending time with their growing families in Ohio and Alaska.  He loved to play family card games, which he won most of the time, and enjoyed gardening.  He touched everyone that he knew with a kindness and generosity that was unmatched.  He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who adored his family, but even more so, he was a great husband to his wife of 62 years.  Their marriage was the epitome of love and caring that we can only hope to achieve.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lois; his two sons, Jeff (Becky) and Brad (Sharon); six grandchildren: Matt (Lindsey), Erik, Allison (Kyle), Chris, Melissa, and James (Alex), and most recently great-grandson, Booker.

Funeral services will be held at Rejoice! Lutheran Church, Omaha Nebraska on October 29, 2021 at 10:30AM with internment with full Military Honors to follow at Omaha National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to Rejoice! Lutheran Church building fund in memory of Ronald Moore.
