Family requests that guests honor Sam’s Hooiser and Husker Pride by wearing Indiana and Nebraska gear. All flowers can be directed to Heafey Hoffman Cutler Dworak and will be transported to St Andrews Methodist Church the day of the service.
Sam was born in Marion, Indiana on November 18, 1961 where he grew up and attended Marion High School, graduating as Senior Class President in 1981. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1983. He met and married the love of his life, Gwen, on September 13, 1986. They had their first child, their daughter, Lauryn on July 29, 1994 and then their son, Ryan, on September 18, 1998. Sam was always a family man and enjoyed Sunday family dinners, spending time with his grand-pups, Tucker and Lucky, and going to any and all sporting events over the years.
Sam was a jack of all trades; he began his career by following in his father’s footsteps with 12 years in the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. Following his service, he spent time with Werner Enterprises and eventually transitioned into his life-long career of sales in medical staffing. He has been a patriarch to the Fusion Medical Staffing family for the past 9 years.
He lived fast and approached every day with a big smile on his face. Sam never met a stranger and always owned the room. Sam was and will always be the life of every party. He enjoyed talking sports with his son, son-in-law, and friends, specifically the Indiana Hoosiers and Nebraska Huskers. Other hobbies include golfing, fishing, spending time on his deck listening to music and dancing with Gwen to Casanova, and playing bags up at his local drinkery.

What a beautiful tribute to an extraordinary man. So true about Sam “never meeting a stranger”. I certainly idolize that and will continue to think like Sam with every human I meet. Bless the Young family and rest easy Sam.
I’m so sorry Lauryn to you and your family. My heart goes out to you. What a wonderful dad he must have been. He talked about you all the time to us. He was like a father figure to us as well at the office. It was such a joy coming into work with him as our boss, there was NEVER a dull moment and we loved him to pieces as so many people did. My prayers to your family.
