Ronald M. Brougham

Ronald M. Brougham

April 13, 1963 – July 5, 2023

Ron was born in Red Cloud on April 13, 1963. He was loved deeply by his wife, three daughters, grandchildren, mom, siblings, friends, coworkers and many others who were blessed to have known him. Ron was raised in Cambridge where he excelled in football and track. Later he settled in Columbus where he married the love of his life, Shelley. They have three children that Ron took great pride in raising.

Ron and Shelley moved to Omaha. Ron coached his three daughters in sports. He worked at MECO-HENNE Contracting. When Ron wasn’t building beautiful churches and schools he could be found on the field or in the bleachers cheering on his daughters and grandchildren.

Ron, in his 60 years, lived a life full of love and adventure. Ron loved to fish. He took great pride in taking his family fishing on his boat. Fishing was a vessel for Ron to talk, listen and give lifelong lessons while on the water. Ron found his peace in the calmness of the lake and the beauty of the sky. The Packers and Chicago Cubs were Ron’s favorite sports teams. Ron loved watching football and baseball with family. Ron opened his home and heart to his daughter’s friends and to anyone who needed a place to call home.
Ron was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2016. Ron was a firm believer that no one loses their battle to cancer. He internalized the words of Jimmy V and had them tattooed on his forearm as a reminder. “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” Throughout Ron’s battle he was able to watch his family grow through the addition of grandchildren, take fishing trips, work and spend time with family. Ron was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, co-worker, and friend. Team stRONg.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charlie Moon; father, James Brougham.

He is survived by his wife, Shelley; daughters, Amanda, Lindsay (Casey), Megan Downie (Max); grandchildren: Brendan, Brooklyn, Carter, Eli, Clayton, Stetson and Ronnie; mother, Marlene; brother and sisters: Ray Schlegel, Robin Tejcka (Tommy) and Karen Trones (Tim).

Family will receive friends Friday, July 7, 2023 from 5-7PM at West Center Chapel with Vigil Service at 7PM.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, July 8, 2023, 10AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church

Bob and I were so sorry to see that Ron passed away. He fought a long time but never gave up.
The love he had for his family was very apparent when ever we were at Brooklyn’s activities we would see him if he wasn’t home watching his favorite football game with his oldest grandson “B”.
Shelley, my heart is breaking for you,, to loose the love of your life. I cannot imagine the depth of your loss. To the girls and the grandchildren your love to your Dad and Grandpa was so refreshing to see. Proves he was everything others have shared about Ron! God give you peace knowing you showed your love for him during his life.
