Rosanna Frangenberg, a beloved dedicated community member, passed away on July 29, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on January 29, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa, Rosanna was the cherished daughter of Cecilia and Fred Frangenberg. The family moved to Lyons, Nebraska when she was a baby girl, where Rosanna’s passion for the newspaper business first began. She attended schools in Lyons and started her newspaper career working on the high school paper.
In 1954, Rosanna joined the Lyons Mirror Sun, the local town paper, marking the beginning of a long and fulfilling career. Her dedication and love for the profession led her to Omaha, where she worked for the Daily Record for fifty years. She treasured her time at the paper, relishing the evolution of the newspaper industry and the close-knit relationships she formed with her colleagues, who she considered family.
Rosanna was an active and devoted member of St. Peter’s Parish for many years. She contributed her time and talents to the church’s Altar Society, assisting with various responsibilities including counting the Sunday collection and organizing refreshments after Mass. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident through her numerous contributions.
Outside of her professional and religious commitments, Rosanna was a voracious reader and had a deep love for movies and the theatre. She delighted in spending time with her good friends and was known for her exceptional organizational skills, particularly in arranging family gatherings. Her culinary talents were legendary, and she took great pride in preparing the most memorable family feasts.
Rosanna was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Cecilia (Knittel) Frangenberg of Lyons, Nebraska; siblings: William, Mary, Dorothy, Agnes, Catherine, and Helen. She is survived by her brother, Robert Frangenberg, of Danville, California.
Rosanna’s warmth, dedication, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of commitment to her family, faith, and profession will remain a cherished part of her memory.
