Roy A. Smith

SMITH, Roy A., Feb 23, 1934 – Sep 27, 2010. Omaha, NE. Roy Allen Smith passed away peacefully with complications related to Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his wife, Macaela, and two children: son Dave and wife Lisa and their daughter Morgan of San Jose, CA, daughter Sandy and husband Kevin of Los Angeles, CA; brother Homer and wife Kathy of Tuscaloosa, AL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, H. P. and Florence; brother, Dean; sister, Arlene. He was born in Independence, MO and the family moved to Omaha in 1939. Roy graduated from Stanford University in 1956 and served in the U. S. Marine Corps before returning to Omaha in 1958 to work for the family business, H. P. Smith Ford. He owned and operated H. P. Smith Ford from 1962 until selling it in the mid-90s. He also owned and operated Old Mill Toyota from 1972 to the present. Through his leadership, both dealerships received national recognition and awards for customer service. He was a tireless volunteer for many local charities, held numerous directorships, and received countless civic awards. SERVICES Thursday, 1pm, Countryside Community Church, 8787 Pacific. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park with military rites by Benson VFW Post 2503. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5pm-7pm at the West Center Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mid-America Council of Boy Scouts, the Salvation Army, or Bellevue University Foundation.
