Russell A. Barber
December 12, 1938 – December 14, 2022
Russell Barber was born December 12, 1938, in Mallard, Iowa and died December 14, 2022, at his home in Ralston, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; parents; sister, Sharon Bridgmon. He is survived by his children: Sonya, Stan (Theresa), Kent (Tari), Jay (Sara), Sena; ten grandchildren: Taran (Erica), Tember (Avery), Haley (Stephen), Emily, Reid, Andrew, Lily, Ryan, Jaynie, Ezra; two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Payton; sisters, Doris and Marian; brothers, Clifford and Robert.
After graduating from Mallard High School, in 1958, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he met and married Marilyn Lantzer on August 5, 1961 in Aurora, Nebraska. They lived in Omaha for six years and then moved to their home in Ralston, Nebraska. They attended and served in church where many of their life-long friendships were formed.
Russell was hard-working and devoted to his family and friends. He demonstrated a servant-heart by lending a hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy was his family whether celebrating holidays, birthday parties, school programs, or a meal. He was known for his smile, his laugh and his kind heart.
He loved road trips especially to Branson and to see extended family or friends. While at home he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels. He also spent a lot of time working on home projects.
His family will cherish the many memories of him and his selfless love.
Family will receive friends: Sunday, December 18th, 5-7 pm at West Center Chapel.

Interment: Forest Lawn Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed by the family.

My sympathies to the entire family. You are all part of your father’s legacy. He set a great and godly example for all of his children and grandchildren. Cherish your memories.
Larry and I are praying for you as you remember the life of your Dad. He’s with your Mom now, what a glorious reunion that was! Many great memories of your family at Harvey Oaks Baptist Church growing up. Love and hugs to all of you!!❤️🙏

Being Paul’s roommate while Marilyn and Tillie were classmates in nurses training gave us a special bond that has lasted through the years. Though the bond looks broken, it is not. We will be together through eternity.
