Ruth Ann Howard, of Omaha, NE passed away on Sunday, Feb. 25th at the University of Nebraska Medical Center-Buffet Cancer Center. She was born on July 12, 1938 in Unionville, Missouri to Basil “Bob” and Mildred Moore. On November 27, 1958 Ruth was united in marriage to Marvin Hogan, who preceded her in death. From this marriage of 49 years, a daughter, Linda Renee, was born. Later in her life, on August 27, 2011, Ruth married Gene Howard of Omaha.
Ruth grew up in Maryville, Missouri and graduated from Maryville High School. She attended Northwest Missouri State University. Upon their marriage, Ruth and Marvin moved several times in the Nebraska-Iowa region and eventually settled in Omaha, where she worked at Bergan Mercy Hospital. Marvin and Ruth subsequently moved to the Denver, Colorado area, where Ruth worked for the Cherry Creek School District for 30 years until her retirement. She moved back to Omaha in 2011 to marry long-time friend, Gene Howard.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Gene Howard; daughter, Linda Moore (Jim Herout); grandchildren, Jessica McIntosh and Glen Evan McIntosh; sister, Shirley Hanna (Raymond) of Maryville, MO; niece and nephew, Stephanie Walker (Bill) of Maryville and Michael Hanna (Cleo) of Gretna, NE. She proudly thought of Brian Howard (Kathy) and Kipp Howard (Hallie) as her sons. Six more grandchildren were so loved by her. She also leaves behind wonderful friends, Kathryn and Jeff Hauswald, and a host of family and friends. Ruth and Gene were active members of Rockbrook United Methodist Church in Omaha.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 1st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the mortuary, 7805 W. Center Rd., Omaha. FUNERAL: Friday, March 2nd at 10:30am at Rockbrook United Methodist Church, 9855 W. Center Rd. in Omaha. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Friday, 3pm at Nodaway Memorial Gardens in Maryville, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Rockbrook United Methodist Church.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort strengthen you for the days a head. Know that caring thoughts are with you. That “He heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds, that’s found at Psalm 147:3.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Ruth Ann was such a sweet person and always had a smile for everyone. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
